Heyyyyyyyyy, my wonderful photo fam.
This year I decided I wanted to motivate myself to do something a little more creative (post-wedding season) for Halloween, so this year I landed on doing a series of Noir Halloween photos edited in a very deep black and white reminiscent of noir film back in the day. This series is meant for me to resurect some of my old favorites and also shoot some new spooky concepts.
In this blog, I'll highlight my old favorites *insert heart eyes here* and post separate blogs for the new shoots I've put together for this Halloween season.

The Cemetery Bride - Hillary Mason
Back in 2014 I was trolling a local thrift store for tea sets and wardrobe inspiration for photo shoots and absolutely struck gold. I found this 1980's wedding dress and immediately starting forming my Cemetery Bride concept.
This being the first image of the Halloween series I was doing back in 2014, it's a little more light-hearted and helped ease my viewer's transition into the darker images to come. I felt a little more glam makeup and hair were a good pairing with the cemetery settings since the next couple photo shoots in this series were things like women crawling out of bodies of water or being lit on fire. Ha.
Hillary Mason was my model and she absolutely killed it. She is so gorgeous, and magically the dress fit like a glove. Her facial expressions and overall presence gave off more a longing or mourning bride than a dead bride, and I am absolutely thrilled. It couldn't have worked out better.
Zombie Lady - Danielle Dene
Danielle is one of my favorite makeup artists to work with because she is a freakin' pro at special effects makeup! We decided to do a look based around her amazing capabilities, and landed on this zombie lady.
We shot this entire set at her house and more specifically in her bath tub! We had so much fun putting this together, and she is legitimately terrifying as a zombie. Can we talk about the shot with the dead eyes and blood draining out of her face?
Sea Witch - Brittany Gorman
Brittany is one of my favorite models. She is always so willing to jump into frozen bodies of water and build elaborate costume ideas with me. Now that we live in different states we sometimes find ourselves planning our only visiting time together around shoot ideas, and I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.
This concept was mostly Brittany's idea if I'm being honest with myself. Together we talked about shooting her as Vanessa, the evil counterpart of Ariel in The Little Mermaid, and then fell upon the idea of her also playing a sea witch! THe day of the shoot came and Britt had the idea of doing a ghoulish/witchy crown so before we headed out to our beach location we sat together and built out what you see now. My favorite is the little tiny ribcage.
We sat at this beach location and shot HUNDREDS of images of her as the Sea Witch, some of which sadly didn't come out because of the constant fog in my lens with the constant ocean spray. Luckily our best poses were all ok! Here are 3 of my favorites:
Drowned Beauty Queen - Liv Echeverria
OH MAN. Ok, guys. Ok. This shoot though.
Liv used to do pageants, and back in 2014 when we started talking about potential shoot ideas my eyes immediately lit up thinking of all the possibilities we could do with this. I tentatively asked Liv if she would be interested in getting a little messy, and she jumped at the idea!
I roped in Danielle (from Zombie Lady) to help with makeup, got her all dressed up in a nice gown, and headed to a creek in Los Gatos. The minute Liv got in the water and the flash started going off I was speechless. These photos turned out exactly how I envisioned them. These are my top 3 favorites from the shoot. If I had to pick one top photo? I'd definitely pick the profile photo with her lying still in the creek. (!!!!)
