Life has been a little crazy the last couple of years. With a relocation to Portland, OR, traveling, dealing with depression, and just general madness on a daily basis, I never had the opportunity to sit down and really write up blogs for some of my favorite weddings. So here I am, a couple years too late, ready to show off some of my favorites!
Derek & Sarah. Where do I begin? Sarah has been a sister to me since college (Her family adopted me when I had nowhere to live one summer. They graciously took me in so I didn't have to live in my car and I will be forever grateful for the part they played in my growing up) and I was extremely honored to be asked to shoot her wedding.
Derek & Sarah were married at the Tooth & Nail Winery in Paso Robles, CA, which ended up being a literal castle. You heard me. A LITERAL CASTLE. Peep this place:
Now, I am not a lover of the color pink, but somehow the details of this wedding have been one of my all-time favorites. Her engagement ring is a big and beautiful princess cut diamond with two PINK diamonds flanking the center stone and a rose gold band. I just can't get enough of it. Following suit of the princess cut ring and the castle winery, the entire wedding had a low-key princess theme. *insert heart eyes here*.
Here are a couple shots to lay the scenery of the beautiful day.
Derek & Sarah were such a joy to shoot for. They had a short engagement and the day of the wedding, Sarah was not stressed at all. She was most excited to just be married to the man she loved. Besides a little nervousness, she was pretty calm and happy which made for some really fun photos for the day.
As her faux sister, I actually helped her with her hair and makeup while my second shooter took photos at the beginning of the day. Once her hair was done, I hopped back into the photo mix.
After hair and makeup, it was time for the first look. Man, Derek & Sarah were just so excited to be together on this day. Once they saw each other, any nervousness was immediately gone.
And just for kicks, here are a couple more fun images of Sarah and her princess veil and details.
Ok, let's move on. As much I could spend the rest of the day gushing about these pre-ceremony photos... the whole point is that they got married!
The ceremony was so sweet. Derek & Sarah got married in front of the castle surrounded by their family and friends.
The Ceremony was short, and wonderful. Derek & Sarah were all smiles as they exchanged vows.
Now, it was party time. The reception was so fun!
The first dances were magical. Everyone was so happy and ready to get the party started. The cake had a simple and adorable Cinderella detail, and the food was a relaxed serving of small pizzas and appetizers.
And that's it! Keep en eye out for a few more fun weddings from the past couple years. :)
